How does the free lesson work?

Each calendar day you can start one new lesson for free. Once you open it, it is today's lesson: you can leave it and open it again the same day. The next new lesson opens tomorrow.

The lessons you have done, and the Üben deck, stay open whenever you like.

How do I subscribe?

On the Ich tab, or when today's lesson is done, tap „Abo ansehen“. Choose monthly or yearly and tap „Abo abschließen“; Apple or Google ask you to confirm. Every lesson opens at once.

How do I cancel?
  • iPhone: Settings → your name → Subscriptions → ÜberDeutsche.
  • Android: Google Play → your profile → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions → ÜberDeutsche.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or it renews. The lessons stay open until the paid period is over. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.

I subscribed, but the lessons are closed.

Open „Abo ansehen“ and tap „Käufe wiederherstellen“. The app asks Apple or Google for your purchases and opens the lessons. Use the same Apple or Google account you bought with. This is also the way on a new phone or after reinstalling.

How do I redeem a code?
  • iPhone: on the subscription page, tap „Code einlösen“ and type the code. A link to the code works as well.
  • Android: on the subscription page, tap „Abo abschließen“, then in Google's payment window open the payment method and choose Redeem code.

A code gives the subscription a free start. Unless you cancel, it then continues at the normal price.

Where is my progress kept?

Only on your phone. There is no account, so nothing of it is on a server. If you delete the app or change phones, the progress is gone; your subscription is not, see „Käufe wiederherstellen“.

Can I have it light instead of dark?

Yes. On the Ich tab, choose Hell (Erstausgabe: ink on cream, like his first editions) or Dunkel (Basel). The app remembers your choice.

Are the films and letters real?

The scenes and letters are written after his life and his real letters, in German you can follow at your level. The sentences quoted as his are his own words, with the book and year they come from.
